Group's volunteers are recognised for long service.

The twenty five years service badge.

Retiring treasurer Jack receives his certificate.

AT THE HEART OF ANY SCOUT GROUP are the young people and the adult volunteers who make it all happen. Eling Sea Scouts are blessed with a fantastic team and recent days have seen many of them being recognised for their service to the Group.

Our treasurer, Jack, has decided to put away his calculator, but not before he was presented with a five year service award by our District Commissioner, Kerie. Our GSL Paul said,"Over this time Jack has provided an exceptional professional approach to being the custodian of our group funds. He has ensured that we have stayed afloat and at all times, provided a really effective and efficient financial service, which has seen us put up the first phase of the New Aquativity Centre, whist still ensuring our funds are in good health for keeping the groups day to day activities running. Thank you Jack for such a great job done."

Aquativity Update - 29 Jan 2012

Two new donations move us forward.

Whilst the building work has paused as we move from shell completion to fit-out, the team which is steering the construction of our new HQ has not. The next phase of work is being planned; this will see us able to start using the boat store -and the removal of the old green container. We have had two major boosts to the project recently, thanks to the generosity of local businesses.

Sheffield Insulations (www.sheffins.co.uk) are providing 600 sheets of plasterboard to line the walls and ceilings, creating the internal rooms. Our thanks go to them for their magnificent support.

We must also thank Barker Mills, who have donated £10,000 to the building fund, on top of their previous donations. This is a wonderful gesture and brings us a big step nearer to completion. Thanks to Karen for organizing this.

Our fund raisers are still busy and have launched two new initiatives which we are asking you to support.

Fundraising News

Bag Packing Success.

Many thanks to all who helped with the recent bag packing day at ASDA in Totton. We raised a magnificent £1032!

Thanks to the staff and management at ASDA Totton and to the many customers who gave so generously. We can add this amount to the £567 we raised bag packing in October.

We also won £6000 from the Natwest Community Force. Many thanks to all who voted for us.

Thank you for voting for us

Back in October, we asked for your help.  Nat West Community Force were running a website where projects all round the country could advertise what they were doing and ask for votes from supporters.  The 3 projects with the most votes in each region (ours being Southampton) would get a donation of £6,000 as a result of attracting these votes.  With your help, and with a lot of running around in the final days of voting, we got 360 votes.  Thank you!

Nat West Community Force have just announced the winners.  And the result is....

The scaffolding is off - 14 Nov 2011

The scaffolding has come down revealing the building clearly for the first time.

The buiding in its lakeside setting.

AT LAST WE CAN SEE THE BUILDING in its entirety. The scaffolding is gone from the building and we can now get uninterrupted views of the structure. With some glorious late autumnal sunshine to light the scene, it looks magnificent. Congratulations to the whole team who have worked so hard to get this far - they should be so proud of what they have achieved. Of course there is still a long way to go to complete the interior, but at last there is something to show for all the long hours of fundraising and planning. Now to get the interior fitted out so we can start to use it - we are already getting praise from the public for the fantastic building which manages to be completely comntemporary, whilst retaining traditional features. It sits so well in the landscape of the lake.
