3 Peaks To Be Conquered Again

A team from the Group has just completed the 3 Peaks Challenge to raise funds for the new HQ, but not satisfied with this we are putting another team through the challenge.

Dear fellow Photographers and friends

Yes, officially I am MAD but in my world that means trying to Make A Difference.  Next weekend I will complete the arduous (and perhaps fool hardy at my age!) task of climbing the 3 highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales.

No problem in that as you might know, I am not adverse to the odd hill walk or mountain challenge but this time I will be doing them one after the other.  Ideally we will complete the challenge in 24 hours but as this is a rearranged attempt, the daylight hours are not ideal and our target is to finish safely.  The original plan was to do the challenge with my Scout Group back in early July but as my father sadly passed away that week I had to pull out at the last minute.  Fortunately, I have found a couple more MAD people who are prepared to accompany me up and down these mountains.

Why am I climbing the 3 Peaks and trying to Make a Difference?

My Scout Group has been planning a new HQ for the last 10 years and we are now at the stage of fundraising the ˝ million pounds we need.

Grants and other large funding sources are now being explored as full planning permission was granted in July and we can press on with the building of the new Aquativity Water Centre.  This new building will not be just for my scout group – the whole community will benefit offering all the youth and disabled of the area the opportunity to learn water based skills such as sailing, kayaking, pulling and windsurfing.  It’s not just about getting the ‘kids off the street’ but giving them the opportunity to develop social and personal skills through an exciting and constructive activity.

If you would be kind enough to support my quest then please go to this donation website (all the money goes to our Charity without a commission taken) or if you prefer, send a pledge by e-mail.  Thank you to all of you who have already sponsored me.

Thank you in anticipation of your support.

Best wishes

(Unfortunately I won’t be taking the full camera kit so those award winning shots from the summits will only be recorded my compact.)
