The Peg & Parrot Pub in Totton makes a donation each year from their ‘bottle on the bar’ and other collections to a worthy local cause and the 4th New Forest North (Eling) Sea Scout Group are this year’s beneficiary. The decision was made following a chat in the bar one night involving one of our Beaver parents who described how the Group was moving forward and looking to build a new HQ at the Testwood Lakes, and how his child and others he knew had gained so much from being members of the Group.
The money will be split between the new building fund and the Beaver Colony itself with £400 going towards the building and £100 for the Colony to spend on itself. Mooors Valley May 10th
The day was enjoyed by 18 Beavers who followed the play trail and completed a couple of 'adventurous' activities en route to earn their Adventure Badge. Everybody had a really good time in almost perfect weather, overcast and quite warm. We did have a couple of spots of rain when we stopped for lunch which saw the less brave don their waterproofs. All those that attended should be congratulated on their behaviour throughout the day, their competitive edge was also apparent on a couple of occassions. They where all a credit to the Colony and the Group.
