Q: What are the Cubs doing?

A: They are being Nature Detectives!

During the months on April, May and June Eling Cubs are surveying their ‘ Wild Square ’ for the RSPB.  They need to look for evidence of mammals within their designated area which happens to be the Testwood Lakes where our new HQ will be sited.

You can see the cubs have found some clues amongst the grass and are going to record this evidence on the survey.  This work will also be part of their Naturalist badge where they have to be able to identify trees and their leaves, insects and wild flowers and grasses.

Now the lighter evenings are with us we are starting our summer programme of outdoor activities.   If you would like to find out more about Scouting then contact us at eling.infoservice@gmail.com.

Eling Cubs were set the challenge of completing a Monopoly style board game - it was fast and furious.

Working in their sixes and escorted by the leaders the Cubs had to visit each site on their board and take a photo as evidence.

Each venue had a value of points and if the complete set was collected then they could double their points tally.  A Community Chest and Chance task also had to be completed during the game.

The winners had carefully planned their route around the town beating the other teams by just a few points.  This activity is part of their Local Knowledge Badge.
