4th New Forest North (Eling) Sea Scouts - the place for outdoor adventure

RELENTLESS - Explorers Section Page

The Relentless Explorers continue to grow and invest new members. Continuing the theme of surprise investitures, two members were cought out on a recent map-reading hike when they found themselves becoming fully fledged Explorers under an oak tree in the New Forest. A makeshift flag halyard had been rigged for the occasion, seemingly by a tree hugging cave dweller.

They didn't let the cold wind put them off but they do seem a bit "distressed" in one of the photos - spot the deliberate error!! But PhotoShop can save an awful lot of embarrassment

Some of the Explorers came back with more than they expected when they took part in the recent Parachute Drop hike. At the final base of the evening they were met by Scout Leaders who then invested the new members of the Section by torchlight at Wylverley. Unfortunately the torchlight or moonlight was not bright enough for the badges to be sewn on or for the group to read maps or even wristwatches !!!!!!! Don't ask?
Map reading skills were tested to the limit, but Flic soon got into the swing of things! Straight on is not always best.
