The Troop proudly bears the name of HMS Warrior - now preserved in Portsmouth.
Whilst members enjoy the normal Scout activities there is also a strong emphasis on nautical skills, including swimming, dinghy sailing and canoeing - see the programme below. The troop meets every Thursday night in Totton at 7pm. Boating activities will normally be at Testwood Lakes. The Scout Section is for young people, both boys and girls, aged between 10½ and 14 years.
Sea Scout News Next Meeting will be held in the Autumn. In the meantime the Summer Camp and Boating Programme is in full swing. Our sailors put their recent sailing practice to good use at the County Sailing Regatta on Blashford Lake. Repeating last years successes we once again scooped the District Trophy for Raft building. Enjoying better weather after last year's damp afternoon, our 2 teams came out on top again. Many Thanks to all of our boating instructors and parents for their help.
The Scouts put in a brave performance at the Pulling and Kayaking regatta. Whilst not taking top honours they enjoyed some close racing and pulled of some individual race wins. And the sun shone ... but where oh where were the bacon butties?? Details of the 2010 County Competitions and events for Scouts and Explorer have been published. Contact the Scout Leader if you want to take part in any of these events. See link at bottom of page for full details. Some of the troop were delighted to be able to visit HMS Trafalgar during her recent visit to Southampton. We were shown from top to bottom including the galley, bunks, heads, weapons and the escape hatch. Everyone really enjoyed the trip which was topped off by a free goody bag from the Royal Navy Careers office. Trygve is now home and enjoying camping with the scouts to celebrate the Centenary in Norway. (Above) Some of Eling's Scouts in action at the Blashford Regatta 2010 (Nicky Cully).
